How to Teach Reading

The following is a link to a website that myself and two of my classmates created as a final project for our ECMP 355 class. We researched three different types of strategies to teach reading (Directed Reading/Thinking Activity, Shared Book Reading, and Learning Experience Approach), and filmed ourselves using these strategies with a real grade 3/4 classroom. Our goal for this project is that our website becomes a useful tool and resource for other educators out there who may not be familiar with these strategies. We’ve included write-ups about each strategy and provided a video on each strategy as well. There is also a resource page that contains links to websites specifically designated towards one of the three strategies.

Teaching Reading: Three Strategies

We recognize how hard and intimidating it can be when it comes to teaching reading. If this website helps even one educator out there then we’ve done our job! And if not, at least it is a resource that we can always look back on!

The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go
